These designs would make the most of the space given while allowing a high quality of life. The core group behind the project, including the Glasgow Development Agency, Glasgow City Council and Scottish homes, chose an area bordering Glasgow Green. Pairing with architectural firm Page & Park, they came up with a general master plan for the area, while seven other firms – Elder & Cannon, Rick Mather, Mckeown Alexander, Ian Richie, RMJM, Ushida Findlay and Wren Rutherford ASL – each designed one of the new buildings. The result is a fascinating blend of ideas, that not only refreshes the area, but also supplied 100 much needed new homes. Glasgow City Council deemed the first phase of the project a success, and intend to use the blueprint in a wider context to revitalise the area.
