The mosaic itself features the phrase “Let Peace Flourish,” a play on the city’s motto, “Let Glasgow Flourish.” The childlike faces found within the tiles were created by artistic members of Project Ability, a visual arts organisation who help those with disabilities and mental health issues express themselves through art. They currently have studios and an exhibition space in the multi-art venue Trongate 103. For more information about Project Ability, please visit their website.

WHERE IS IT?

This colourful mosaic and the Peace Gardens was created in 1992 to offer citizens an area of quietude where peace could be celebrated,  with a tree planted there to celebrate Glasgow’s 10th year as a Nuclear Free Zone.
