WHERE IS IT? In the West End between Queen Margaret Road and Kelvinside Terrace South, a short walk from the Botanic Gardens

THE SIXTY STEPS

4637158943

These public steps were designed by Thomson to connect Kelvinside Terrace to Garriochmill Road in order to provide access to the Queen Margaret Bridge.

Queen Margaret Bridge has since been demolished, and as a result, the steps fell into major disrepair. The Greek Thomson Sixty Steps Preservation Trust was formed to protect the historic landmark and to have the wall refurbished and restored. In recent years work has been taken to conduct careful repairs to stop the wall from total collapse as well as addressing underlying structural issues.

The Greek Thomson Sixty Steps Preservation Trust is still campaigning to raise awareness of the landmark, and require donations to continue the restoration process. Find out more about their hard work on their website.
